Speaker of the Ethiopian Parliament, Tagesse Chaffo said he was inspired by the democratic process and peaceful transition of power demonstrated in Zambia from time in memorial.
Mr. Chaffo said African countries should draw valuable lessons from Zambia’s democratic process. He is in Zambia to represent the Ethiopian government at President-elect Hichilema’s inauguration ceremony at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka tomorrow.
Mr. Chaffo said it was also commendable for the outgoing president Lungu to concede defeat in the just ended elections and urged Mr. Hichilema not to be vindictive but to concentrate on fostering national unit.
“The Ethiopian Government represented by me is happy to be here for the inauguration ceremony…We are here as African brothers and sisters, coming together to celebrate the new President and our hope is that the he (Mr. Hichilema) should forgive everything that happened during the elections,” he said.
