The ministry of education is saddened by actions by some head teachers who has resorted to sending away learners in the name of the mid term break set by government.
The ministry has set Friday 15 to October 25 as period for the break for learners countrywide to facilitate for catching up as schools had two terms compressed into four, due to COVID-19.
Ministry public relations officer Annita Chaduka warned that the break should not be used as a reason to send children away in boarding schools because it is part of the third term school calendar.
She said the ministry has since cautioned head teachers not to advise learners to go home during the mid term break as it is not compulsory.
“We would like to urge all schools countrywide to operate with the stipulated government guidelines” Ms Chaduka further stated.
