Police in Petauke district have allegedly arrested PF Lusangazi Council Chairperson candidate Patrick Banda.
The police said they were instructed to arrest him for uttering false documents.
The police also said they were acting on information from the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to arrest Mr Banda.
Some police officers who preferred to remain anonymous for fear of intimidation indicated that it’s clear that the issue is pure intimidation from the new dawn government.
“We just received instructions that arrest him,the instructions came from the state and ECZ” they said.
But this matter is a bailable offence, so find sureties and we shall give him bond and proceed with campaigns,”the police said.
Efforts to get clarification from the UPND Eastern Province Chairperson have proved futile.
