The Patriotic Front in North western province has clarified that the two vehicles which where reportedly seized by the police still belongs to the former ruling party.

According to PF acting provincial chairman Enick Kapalu, the vehicles in question have just been handed over to police for investigation purposes only.

Mr. Kapalu explained that police came in after some people reported that former ruling party members were keeping vehicles which do not belong to the party.

“The vehicles have not been seized or confiscated as reported, but they have just been handed over to the police for investigation which is being done after some people reported that we where keeping vehicles which do not belong to the party,” said Mr. Kapalu.

He stated that the only institution which has power to seize any property is the courts of law.

“So, the media reports being circulated regarding the the vehicles in question is not correct,” he said.

He disclose that the police command called him regarding the vehicles of which he responded in the affirmative.

“And after they asked to have the vehicles handed over, we willfully took the vehicles to Solwezi central police station where they are parked for investigation,” he explained.

He said people should not politicise the situation as it is just a normal police procedure.

He however wondered why police did not take keen interest in the other vehicle which was involved in a road accident in April this year.

“And we only hope that it is just another normal police procedure because the vehicle was involved in the accident long time ago,” he said.

Yesterday, North western province deputy commissioner of police Dr. Fred Mulenga issued a statement indicating that police had confiscated the PF vehicles.
