Police in Kasempa have arrested two people for being in possession of 117 50kilogram bags of fertilizer which is believed to have been stolen.

North Western Province Deputy Police Commissioner Dr. Fred Mulenga disclosed that the fertilizer was loaded on two trucks namely a Hino truck registration number BAH 3347 loaded with 46 bags of the fertiliser this truck was driven by Obbly Halubizi 36 of Njenga area in Kasempa and the other Hino truck registration number ATB 3704 loaded with 71 bags was driven by Cheelela Munkombwe aged 29.

Dr. Mulenga said at the time of the report, the two trucks where still packed at Nyimba investment shed.

“Acting on the matter, officers rushed to the scene and found the two trucks loaded with fertilizer. And The two trucks were driven to our Kasempa police station were the fertilizer was offloaded,” he said.

He however said, one of the driver, Obly Habulizi has revealed that he paid a K50,000 to Mr. Bradly Namakama, an Agriculture camp extension officer at Njenga agriculture camp for the purchase of the said fertilizer in the month of April 2021.

He said both trucks have since been impounded and the two drivers have been detained after being in possession of property believed to have unlawfully obtained.

“A docket of case has since been opened and Investigations have since been instituted to bring to book all those that are involved in the matter,” he added.
