A 20 year old woman of Sebente village in Musaka area of Mushindamo district has died while her 1 year 7 months child is nursing injuries in Solwezi general hospital after being bashed by an over speeding vehicle.
According to North western province Commissioner of police Joe Njase, the accident happened on Saturday around 15 hours at Kafulabunga area along the Solwezi Kipushi road and identified the deceased as Zhani Musule and child as Joyce Musule.
Mr. Njase disclosed that involved was Joseph Ngandu 42 of Chililabimbwe on the Copperbelt an Immigration officer at Kilushi border who whilst driving a Toyota Harrier registration number BAD 5588 lost control of the vehicle and hit into the pedestrian walking off the road.
“And due to the impact, the deceased sustained fatal internal injuries and bleeding from the nose and died in the spot while the child sustained head injuries and general body pains,” je explained.
Mr. Njase said the deceased body has been deposited at Solwezi general hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem while the child has been admitted to the same hospital.
He further disclosed that the motor vehicle involved in the incident has been burnt to ashes by a mob while the driver involved in the accident is at large.
“And if found, he will be charged for causing death by dangerous driving which is contrary to section 161 (2)of the Road Traffic Act number 11 of 2002,” he added.
