North Western Province Minister Robert Lihefu has revealed that the region generated about K 40 million in non tax revenue against the target of K 21 million last year.
Mr. Lihefu said this represents more than 100 percent achievement.
“We are at number two in the country while at number is the Copperbelt,” said Mr. Lihefu recently during a media briefing.
He commended heads of government departments for their commitment towards the achievement.
And Mr. Lihefu said the region has started attracting investment in various sectors.
He said this follows the successful trade and investment exposition dubbed ‘Expo North West Zambia 2019’ held in August 2019.
He said so far, the Zambia Forestry and Forest Industry Company (ZAFFICO) has invested in about 225 hectares by planting exotic pines in Kalumbila district with a total workforce of about 150 workers.
“In addition to that, a plantation of another 200 hectares of exotic pines in Mushindamo district along the Solwezi Chingola road has been planted,” said Mr. Lihefu.
He also disclosed that the construction of the Kelene Fruit Company which is a fruit processing company is over 95 percent complete.
He said plant once completed will not just create employment but also out-grower schemes to local farmers.
He further disclosed that the construction of the Solwezi industrial yard is complete awaiting for power and water supply to be connected.
