Zambia swimmer Tilka Paljk will not make it to the Africa Championships in Ghana after failing to raise enough fund to help her travel for the games.

Paljk and Kumarne Naidu needed over K80, 000 for them to make it for the event in Ghana.

However, the Olympian announced on her Facebook page on Friday that she will not make it for the event.

“It is with deep sadness that I announce that I will not be participating at the Africa Championships in Ghana due to lack of funding.

“As you all know, Kumaren and I have been trying to raise funds for this trip in such a short period of time. Kumaren, with help from his family, has been able to raise the money and go.” She said.

She has thanked everyone that came to their aid in an effort to fundraise, and has assured their sponsors all the raised funds will be returned.

“I am so sad that I will not be participating, I feel as though I have let you all down, and I am sorry for that. I want to wish my teammate, Kumaren, the very best of luck, and have fun,” she said.

Paljk is a national record holder in swimming boasting of national records in the 50, 100 and 200 meters breaststroke categories.
